Usher’s bitter divorce from hair and wardrobe stylist Tameka Foster didn’t stop him from being by her and her son’s side following a tragic boating accident Friday.
Foster’s 11-year-old son, Kyle Glover, was left brain dead after being hit by a jet ski on Atlanta’s Lake Lanier.
Police are investigating Foster family friend Jeffrey S. Hubbard, whom they claim was operating the watercraft that crashed into the boy as he was floating on an inner tube.
Another victim, a 15-year-old girl, was also riding on the inner tube and both she and Glover were flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston immediately following the accident.
Glover sustained a head injury and was reported to have been unresponsive since paramedics arrived on scene. The girl is said to have suffered a cut on the head as well as a broken arm.
Usher immediately rushed to the hospital to show his support. He and Foster were married in 2007 but had a tumultuous divorce in 2009. They are still undergoing a child custody battle.
While Kyle is not Usher’s biological son, he considers him his own.
“Tameka and Usher don’t get along, but in this circumstance Usher is coming to her side,” explained a source to Us Weekly. “Usher practically raised Kyle as his own. He’s known him for seven years. It is so sad what happened.”
