After being married for only eight months, Carly Pearce has decided to file for divorce from her singer-songwriter husband Michael Ray, according to a source close to the couple [Source: PEOPLE]. The source also confirmed to PEOPLE that the decision for Pearce was a hard one and that “it wasn’t something she wanted to have to do.” While it still isn’t clear what has prompted the divorce, the source did not attribute the breakup to a “quarantine realization,” but instead said that it was “a last resort.”

According to PEOPLE, while the couple had been friends prior to dating, it wasn’t until June 2018 when the two attended a friendly get-together at Pearce’s house when “sparks began to fly.” It was during this time that the two realized they “had met their match.” Then, in November 2018, the couple made their relationship “red carpet official” at the CMA Awards. A month later, Ray proposed to Pearce with a five-carat diamond ring during a family vacation to Tulum, Mexico.

On October 6, 2019, Pearce and Ray tied the knot on a Nashville-area farm with approximately 100 close friends and family members present.
