Prahlad Friedman is a well-known poker star who came in with a bang, but has not been on the scene in recent years. However, he’s back in the news now because he and his fellow poker-playing wife, Lee Duong Friedman, are getting a divorce.
TMZ Sports reports that the couple owns a 4,200-square-foot home in the ritzy town of Malibu, California and it is uncertain of who will get to keep the property.
Friedman first emerged as a poker star in the mid-2000’s, when he made millions playing online poker. He finished second at the December 2002 $3,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event at the Bellagio Five Star Poker Classic winning $101,446.
He cashed in and also won his first bracelet, winning the $1,500 Pot Limit, event for $109,400 in April 2003 in the very first World Series of Poker event. He closed off his 2003 with a pair of in the money finishes on the World Poker Tour.
However, his career took a nosedive after he was one of many players cheated in the UB superuser scandal of 2008.
The fading star later baffled the poker community in 2010, when he signed a sponsorship deal with UB. Many people were critical of this move because they thought it was strange that Friedman would represent the same site that ripped him off of millions.
When UB Poker went down after Black Friday (April 15th, 2011), the 35-year-old dropped out of the poker scene and has rarely been heard of ever since.
Luong hasn’t made much of an impact in the poker word recently either. She made an appearance on Poker After Dark in 2007 and has earned $90k in live tournaments during her career.
Friedman met Dee [Luong] at a $30/60 limit hold ’em game at the Bellagio. They had been married for seven years, but have been together for 17 years.
