Scottsdale, AZ- One of NASCAR’s most popular drivers, Danica Patrick announced Tuesday that she and her husband of seven years, Paul Hospenthal are splitting, the second celebrity split this week.

“I am sad to inform my fans that after seven years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage,” Patrick, 30, wrote on her Facebook page, as reported by People, “This isn’t easy for either of us, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that is how we will remain moving forward.”

Hospenthal, 47, who is a personal trainer and physical therapist and Patrick were married in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2005. According to People, the couple was engaged on Thanksgiving Day in 2004. They reportedly met when Patrick went to him for help with a non-raccing related back injury.

Though the couple didn’t state why they are divorcing, there are a number of factors that could have played a part, including their 17 year age difference and the time Patrick spends in the spotlight. Because racing requires that Patrick be away for weeks at a time, spending that much time apart can create distance in a relationship.

Patrick and Hospenthal don’t have any children together. But Patrick is a notorious Indy driver and spokeswoman for GoDaddy so they will have other issues to deal with in dissolution.

Patrick undoubtedly has wealth and assets to protect amid her divorce.  Regardless of wealth and social status, every couple can use the assistance of a divorce attorney to untangle their finances and other assets once they have decided to split.
