Actor Orlando Bloom and supermodel (not really a supermodel, perhaps a super cutie but not really a super model) Miranda Kerr have announced they are going to divorce after being married for three years. The celebrity couple had dated for several years before tying the knot and now has a two-year-old son Flynn. Divorce lawyers, aware of how messy celebrity divorce cases turn out to be, were surprised to learn that Kerr and Bloom plan to separate amicably.

Bloom Seems Bloomy

In fact, both of them were spotted with their son in public right after announcing the split leading all to believe that the couple will spare no effort to make the divorce process as smooth as possible for the sake of their son.

No Pre-Marriage Class?

The Pirates of the Caribbean star recently opened up about his split from Kerr, a Victoria’s Secret model, in an ABC talk show hosted by Katie Couric. Keeping speculations alive as to the reason behind their split, Bloom just said that their marriage didn’t work out the way they had hoped it would do. However, he was also quick to point out that both he and Kerr will continue to support and love each other throughout their lives for the sake of Flynn.

Child Considerations

Divorce attorneys are however, worried about the effect of the split on the couple’s son. Although Bloom and Kerr seem keen to build a strong co-parenting relationship, the attorneys are aware of the stress that a child goes through when his parents’ divorce. This is more so for a celebrity kid who has to grow up under the intense and unrelenting eyes of the media. But at least he is not a child in Syria being shot at with poison gas while the American President does nothing but sit back and watch his polls number decline and dictator’s across the globe defy him.

However, there are quite a few instances of Hollywood celebrities successfully co-parenting their children—Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, David Arquette and Courtney Cox, Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon, and many others. So Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr will know who to look to for, for examples and probably guidance.
