Mel Gibson has been out of the lime light as of late, and that’s probably for the best. However, the former “Braveheart” actor may soon wish he had more starting roles to come.
According to TMZ, Gibson’s ex-wife Robyn Moore is going to not only receive a huge sum in alimony, but she is also going to gain access to a sizeable chunk of Gibson’s retirement benefits.
And with Gibson being worth reportedly $800 million, if Moore can walk away with half, she will pretty much be set for the rest of her life.
These are all issues Gibson wouldn’t have to be dealing with had the ex-couple signed a prenuptial agreement. Unfortunately, when divorcing couples don’t have a prenup, assets tend to get divided pretty evenly, save for rare exceptions.
Moore and Gibson have already been separated for quite some time. After 26 years of marriage, Moore filed for divorce in April 2009 and the divorce became final in December 2011.
The ex-pair have seven children together so they are likely to bump into each other from time to time. For their sake, they should maintain an amicable relationship so as not to create too much discord within their kid’s lives.
Divorces can affect children a lot more than parents realize. Their whole lives are changing, especially when it comes to new custody arrangements. Divorces should be as smooth as possible, for both couples and their kids, so if you have considered filing for divorce, contact a top divorce attorney to ensure your case runs as quickly and favorably as possible.
