In what could simultaneously be the worst and most publicized divorce in all of Hollywood history, a decision has finally been reached in the Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries divorce case. The verdict: Kim is a free woman at long last.
The reality TV starlet and NBA player tied the knot in 2011, but though their marriage was short-lived – only 72 days – their divorce drama certainly wasn’t. The pair duked it out for nearly two years in divorce proceedings, fully equipped with disputes over whether the marriage should be annulled or dissolved, whether Kardashian committed fraud, and how much money everyone should get.
But at long last, the Kardashian divorce was finalized on June 3, just in time for the 32-year-old to welcome her baby girl North with new beau, rapper Kanye West.
Despite the fact that it could have been a rather simple divorce, since the former couple allegedly had a solid prenuptial agreement and top divorce lawyers on their case, it was Humphries’ actions that prolonged the process after claiming the entire marriage was a sham concocted by Kardashian to make money.
At least now the new mom can breathe a sigh of relief after worrying she would give birth while still married. Luck seemed to be on Kardashian’s side once news of her pregnancy broke and Humphries agreed to the split. Two weeks after the divorce was finalized, the newly single Kardashian gave birth.
Maybe it was all luck, or maybe it had something to do with the fact that Kardashian hired a top divorce attorney. We may never know, but one thing is certain: having a skilled divorce lawyer on any marriage dissolution case certainly makes a huge impact in how favorably proceedings will pan out. Kardashian can be thankful that she chose her legal counsel well.
