Katy Perry Documentary Gives Look Into Personal Life and Divorce

Katy Perry’s new documentary, aptly titled “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” is going to be a little more than just an entertainment piece.

The pop singer explained that her film will feature several emotional scenes surrounding her divorce from British comedian Russell Brand.

When asked by MTV News why she chose to include footage of her personal relationship with Brand in the documentary, she said she “couldn’t avoid the elephant in the room,” but wanted to show how she was able to prevail through her struggles.

“In my personal struggle, you see me not changing and not giving up on this dream that I’ve had my whole life. Hopefully people are inspired by that,” Perry said. “You don’t always see me with all the gorgeous lighting and makeup on and all that. I think it’s fine. Hollywood is so fake and people need to realize that people are just people, and you, too, don’t need to be born into something or have money or have whatever product someone is hawking on you. Perry added that she wanted to make sure her audience didn’t think she had anything to hide regarding the divorce and did her best to handle the depiction with maturity and integrity.
