As reported in the Phoenix New Times, the sons of Arizona legend Barry Goldwater, Barry Jr. and Michael are starting brand new chapters in their lives as one is wrapping up a divorce and the other bankruptcy.

Michael Prescott Goldwater and wife, Constance filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy which
was discharged on July 1.

In the same month, his brother Barry Jr., ended a seven-year marriage to his and his second wife, Sylvia DeLucia. The couple had two prior divorce filings in the last six years.

Goldwater Jr., a former Republican Congressman from California, is the chairman of Tell Utilities Solar Won’t Be Killed (TUSK) a group launched in March to fight the state’s largest electric utility, Arizona Public Service, on solar power. Renewable energy advocates are glad to have Goldwater as a spokesman and while things look bright on the business side, his personal life has been bleaker.

The loss of a primary election in 1982 for a seat in the U.S. Senate, followed by an investigation into allegations that several members of Congress had been using drugs, prevented him from following in his father’s footsteps of political achievements.

Finding the right woman has also not been the easiest for Jr.. goldwater

His first marriage broke up in the mid-’70s after a woman he was dating disappeared. Loretta Clarke Guinan, a young married woman he’d taken as a lover in the summer of 1984, disappeared a few months later after agreeing to testify against her husband, a lawyer and accused thief. The woman’s husband, Michael Guinan, was suspected in the disappearance.

It wasn’t until 2006 that Goldwater Jr. married again, this time to jewelry store clerk Sylvia DeLucia. They filed their first of three divorce proceedings just one year later.

After stopping a potential divorce twice, once in 2007 and again in 2010, the couple called it quits for good this year.
