Rome, Italy- Details of the divorce settlement between former Italian Prime Minister and media mogul Silvio Berlusconi and his second wife, Veronica Lario, have been revealed by an Italian newspaper. And she may very well be one of the luckiest divorcees ever.

The paper, Corierre della Sera reported that the colorful Berlusconi was hit a 36 million euro- a-year settlement. In U.S. dollars that translates to 4 million a month or $100,000 a day, but he gets to keep their 150 acre estate, Villa Bellvedere, Reuters reported.

Lario was eager to hold onto the 120 sq. foot estate valued at approximately $235 million (78 million euros) where she raised their three children, but a court ruled Berlusconi keep the estate since their children are no longer minors.

Lario, who is an actress caught Berlusconi’s eye when she was appearing in play in 1980. They began their controversial relationship while he was still married to his first wife, according to the Telegraph.

Berlusconi and Lario married in 1990 after his divorce from Carla Dall’Oglio was finalized in 1985.

Even though Lario knew of Berlusconi’s tendency to be a womanizer, they managed to make their marriage last for 22 years. The final straw came after he allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 17 year-old girl at one of his infamous Bunga Bunga parties.

Stories about these notorious Bunga Bunga parties made across the Atlantic and were frequented by heads of state, Italian models and actresses and even American actor George Clooney. The parties often entailed lots topless women where the liquor flowed freely and sex was the theme, sometimes culminating in orgies. It was at one of these parties that Berlusconi allegedly paid the 17 year-old, known as Ruby, to have sex with him.

According to the Telegraph, Ruby  “committed sexual acts with Silvio Berlusconi, for payment in cash and other compensation, at his residence” on 13 occasions from Feb 14 to May 2, 2010. His affair with underage girl resulted in criminal charges for Berlusconi and forced him to resign as Prime Minister.

Although Lario publically criticized her husband for his relations with other women in 2007, for which Berlusconi issued an apology. It was shortly after the ‘bunga bunga’ scandal broke and Berlusconi attended the 18th birthday party of a lingerie model. After seeing photos of the party, Lario filed for divorce stating she could no longer tolerate a man who “mixes with under-age girls.”

On December 16th of this year, Berlusconi announced his engagement to 27 year-old Francesca Pascale, an Italian TV presenter. Berlusconi described her as “a beautiful girl on the outside and even more beautiful on the inside, of solid moral principles, she is very close to me, she loves me and I feel the same way.” He added that his daughter Marina, who is close to Pascale’s age, approved and the two women are good friends, according to the Daily Mail.

How long do you think Berlusconi’s third marriage will last? Statistically speaking third marriages have a very short life span and Pascale is 49 years his junior.

Reuters reported Lario initially asked for $4.6 million (3.5 million euros) a month in alimony; Berlusconi’s counter offer was $39,000 a month (300,000 euros), but given his past behavior the judge sided in Lario’s favor.

This may be a very large settlement, but wealthy playboys have been ordered to similarly large settlements. Australian media mogul Rupert Murdoch settled his divorce from his second wife Anna Murdoch for $1.2 billion in 1999.
