This was one of those cases that kept legal professionals busy for an extended period of time. Finally, an official divorce was granted to David Arquette and Courtney Cox, on May 29th, 2013. However, the proceedings are by no means recent. The decision to separate was made public a couple of years ago in October 2010. And considering that the couple had a 10 year marriage behind them and a daughter from it, it essentially came as a surprise to one and all. And they chose to wait till June 2012, before formally filing for divorce with the help of their respective divorce attorneys.Courtney and David

Amazing it Ever Happened

Finally, on May 28th, the final judgment was entered by a Los Angeles County judge. This marked the official ending of their 12 year old marital alliance. The couple’s daughter Coco is now 8 years old. Both parents have requested for joint physical and legal custody of her. Many people wonder how this relationship lasted this long considering her beauty and charmed aligned with his average build and looks and nothing special acting skills.

A Ridiculous Movie (but it did frighten many)

Courtney and David met for the first time in 1996, on the sets of Scream. They got married 3 years later, on June 12th, 1999. Their first and only child was born in 2004. David and Courtney announced separation six years after their daughter was born. However, they had assured everyone at that time that their separation was temporary. Speaking about the developments, Courtney had spoken to TV Week stating, “I don’t know what will happen, but this is not like we’re getting divorced. This is a separation and I think that takes a lot of courage. Whatever is supposed to happen will be the best thing for us. Sometimes you just realize, ‘Wow, we actually have grown apart.’

An Amicable Ending

David was the one to file for a formal divorce after almost two years of separating out. Even after being formally divorced, both have promised to remain friends and have pledged equal participation in their daughter’s upbringing. That is good for both of them but perhaps if they took a marriage class before getting married this failed marriage would not have ever happened.
