Atlanta, GA- Boo Boo’s father, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson is angry so concerned about his daughter’s safety, he is considering “launching” a custody battle after Mama June exposed his 9 year-old girl to a convicted child molester.

Last week, TMZ posted a picture of “Mama” June Shannon cozying up to a convicted child molester Mark McDaniel who recently got out of jail after serving 10 years for forcing oral sex on an 8 year-old girl. “Mama June” Shannon denied the rumors she was dating McDaniel, but the damage to her reputation was done. TLC decided to cancel “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” and concern over the safety of Shannon’s daughters could lead to a custody battle over Alana “Honey Boo Boo,” with her estranged ex whom she kicked out of the family home early this year.

After the photos of Mama June and McDaniel emerged, her eldest daughter Anna Shannon Cardwell, now 20 with a child of her own, said she was the girl McDaniel molested.

“Crazy Tony” Lindsay who appeared in the show’s first season told reporters, “Mike is all over the place and is distraught that his daughter has had contact with a sex offender.”  Lindsay added, “He wants her out of that environment and knows the only way to do that is to get custody.”

Lindsay said, however, Thompson may not have enough money to hire a divorce attorney since Mama June hasn’t given him any money made from the show and Thompson has been reduced to living in a RV purchased for him by TLC.

It also appears that Mama June may reignited her romance with McDaniel while she was still married to Thompson. The Huffington Post reported that Mama June’s and Thompson’s break-up was the result of her infidelity with McDaniel.

But Thompson isn’t the only entity concerned about the safety of the girls. Radar Online reported that Georgia Child Protective services went to the visit the family and there is a real danger she could lose custody of her three daughters, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 14, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 17, and Alana, a spokesperson for child services told the Huffington Post.

“Generally speaking, when we receive a report that children are living around a sex offender … it would certainly rise to the level of concern of us looking into it,” Susan Boatwright, a representative of Georgia’s Division of Family and Child Services, told People magazine.

For now, the girls are still living with Mama June who allegedly has emerged from their McIntyre, Georgia, home only once since the photos of her and McDaniel surfaced.

The safety of her children should come first, why Mama June would risk the safety of her children and her livelihood for a fling with a child molester is perplexing to the say the least. If Thompson does decide to fight for custody, a divorce attorney will work to ensure Alana’s best interest takes precedence in the proceedings.
