Chad Johnson has finally decided to throw in the towel. Claiming that his marriage is “irretrievably broken,” the former NFL star has agreed to walk away from the relationship and has filed for divorce from estranged wife Evelyn Lozada.

According to TMZ, Johnson filed the documents in a Florida court on Thursday. But now that the hard part – actually filing for divorce – is over, Johnson doesn’t want to go down without a fight. The former “Ochocinco” is trying to block Lozada’s efforts to have him pay for her divorce lawyer fees.

Lucky for Johnson, he and Lozada signed a prenuptial agreement, which he believes will favor him regarding the legal fees.

Lozada left Johnson last week after he allegedly headbutted her. Since the incident, Johnson’s luck has gone on a downward spiral. He was fired from the Miami Dolphins, lost his reality show on VH1 and is even facing foreclosure on his home. Now he even faces jail time. Formal domestic charges filed against him on Wednesday and he faces a year in jail if convicted.

Lozada on the other hand, claims to be “ecstatic” over the breakup.

This divorce might just beat out Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’, which lasted 72 days. Johnson and Lozada were only married for a little over a month.
