Celebrity singer will pay out large settlement after cheating on wife
Phoenix, AZ – A constant practice of American media is reporting on divorces among celebrity couples. Their cases provide important information about how marriages can end, as well as the legal process behind property division.
There was a news report on the celebrity divorce of singer Ne-Yo and his wife, where he will pay approximately $2 million and various other compensation in their final settlement agreement [1].
Singer is paying approximately two million to wife as marriage ends
The court documents related to their case show that about $1.6 million is paid out from Ne-Yo to Crystal Renee in a lump sum as a substitute for dividing their real estate. Renee will get an additional $20,000 for moving expenses. Ne-Yo is keeping a 2022 Bentley that the couple owned, but he has agreed to give Renee $150,000 for her own car to use after the divorce.
Child support and alimony were also part of the divorce settlement. The 43 year old male is required to give $12,000 a month in combined child support for their three kids. Their divorce case concluded with an agreement that Ne-Yo will pay $5,000 per month in alimony payments, which will terminate after three years.
The couple had married in early 2016, but their marriage fell apart after Renee found out that her husband was going to become the father of a child with another woman at some point shortly before she filed for divorce. The three children of their marriage range in age between one and six years old.
The reality of resource exchange during high net worth divorce
It is common for divorces where one or both members of a couple earned a lot of money to have settlements that conclude with millions of dollars and high value properties changing hands. Especially when considering property division among these kinds of couples, there can be lengthy settlement negotiations or court battles as multiple homes, cars, and other items can change hands or be sold as part of the divorce case. Prenuptial agreements are one way that couples can speed this process up, although even among high net worth individuals premarital agreements are not always used. Settlements rather than having a judge decide on property division during a hearing can help save time and money as well.
As a general rule, legal advice is highly recommended as soon as a pending divorce becomes apparent.
